Home Births

RobinsNest birth companions are trained to support women and their families with their choice to home birth. Some strong minded women prefer home births as women did in the past. This can come to pass if the parents both agree and have a doctor or hospital on alert as the labor process begins. You can give birth in the comfort of your home surrounded by supportive family and friends. If you have other children they can also be present for their sibling's birth. As soon as the bundle of joy has arrived, you can breastfeed and bond with your family.

RobinsNest Birth Companion Does NOT Do The Following Things:

  • Does not perform clinical tasks, such as blood pressure, fetal heart checks, vaginal exams, or other medical procedure that fall under the legal definition of practicing medicine.

  • Does not provide information, dosages or advise concerning prescription or alternative medication, or medical advice pertaining to you or your baby.

  • Does not make decisions for you. Your birth companion will help you get the information necessary to make an informed decision. Your doula will also remind you if there is a departure from your Birth Plan.

  • Does not speak to the staff on your behalf. Your birth companion will discuss your concerns with you and suggest options, but you or your partner will speak on your behalf to the clinical staff.
